Conservationist Internship
The intern will be employed as a full time Conservationist to support our Forest Leader. Your role will be to support overall project activities carried out by the Forest Healing Foundation. The role involves supporting field activities, in field exposure, engaging with local communities and helping conservation programs achieve their targets.

This is a full time position (3 days on site, 2 days remote, flexible schedule) based in Wepathana, near Digana. Preference will be given to candidates from Kandy or nearby areas. If you are a school leaver that has just finished GCE A/L’s, waiting for results or a general nature enthusiast, this is a great opportunity for you.
Roles and Responsibilities

Help plan, organize and oversee conservation programs in subject areas of reforestation, habitat restoration and biodiversity protection initiatives.

Support field activities and workshops involved with the conservation programs.

Communicate and collaborate with communities, government agencies, NGO’s and other stakeholders.

Monitor and evaluate program progress, ensuring activities are completed on time and within budget.

Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and document project outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.

Assist in developing project proposals, grant applications, and fundraising for conservation projects.

Provide logistical and administrative support for program implementation.

Qualifications and Requirements

Have studied biology as a subject or have a strong interest in nature and conservation.

Confidence at working in a team or independently.

Strong proficiency in written and spoken English, with working knowledge of Sinhala considered a bonus.

Creative mindset for developing engaging communication material through social media and other platforms.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Innovative and enjoys a challenge.

Proficiency in report writing and basic data management.

Willingness to travel to field sites and work in outdoor conditions.

Working Hours
The regular working time is 5 days per week with 9 hours each. The salary payments correspond to these working hours. The employee undertakes to work on site at least 3 days per week. The remaining days can be worked remotely.
